Workblogging

January 6th, 2008

Inspired by, among other projects, Zuda Comics’ High Moon, I’ve decided to start a workblog in this space.

I’m halfway through the second draft of the script for our first issue. I can tell you it’s about vampires. I can also tell you it’s about vampires as you’ve never seen them before — and when I say that, I’m just not being cliché! I may post the first page or two of script as a teaser in this space (because let’s face it, this website needs a content transfusion, stat!). Lukas is currently working on some more motorcycle helmet art, but as soon as he’s done with that he’s planning to finish the concept art and start thumb-nailing pages.

To explain a little more: Our first issue is basically like a musician’s demo, an example of what Witch Doctor is all about. For us, that means shopping it to comics publishers, but it also means releasing it in this space, for free, as a prelude to that. After that we’ll be self-publishing this first comic, with the current intention to have hardcopies in our hands in time for the Emerald City ComicCon in Seattle this May. So. That’s the plan.

Consider me curious. I’m interested in seeing what you come up with.

I can’t wait to see more of what the interior is going to look like. I love the concept, and look forward to stocking it!

Thanks Kathy! Hopefully we’ll have a glimpse inside the comic soon. I hope you like the reveal of our first monster!

We’ll be self-publishing our ‘demo’ issue with a limited release — so no Diamond just yet — but if you want some copies we’d be happy to provide them! And hopefully we’ll be finding a publisher, and you’ll be able to carry us for real!

  • About Witch Doctor

    It's a sick world.

Literally -- the universe is an organism, and the creatures of myth and folklore are invading parasites, preying on the native species and disrupting the ordered systems of the world.

It's a sick world, and Dr. Vincent Morrow's here to treat it. Headhunted into an exciting new career in the black arts after his excommunication from the medical community, Morrow serves the world with both hands -- one in magic, one in medicine -- as earth's protector. Earth's Witch Doctor.

Witch Doctor: First Incision is a 16-page medical horror comic introducing the Witch Doctor universe, written by Brandon Seifert and illustrated by Lukas Ketner.
